I think Apple is best positioned to win in consumer AI.
- Apple hardware can run on-device models. On-device models avoid tokenomics and keep costs fixed.
- Apple owns foundational interfaces and can integrate as a first-party: MacOS, iOS, iMessage, CarPlay, FaceTime, Safari. Not to mention: MacBook, iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods.
- Apple is a well-distributed and trusted brand.
I’m excited for the vision they’ve presented: an intelligent personal hub. Granted, they’ve presented a really compelling Siri & Apple Intelligence a few times now and have failed to execute. But, Apple is slow, and slow often pays off for them, so I’ll keep holding my breath.
And of course, Duo. I’m excited for Duo. I don’t think I’ll buy one because it’s a bit expensive and my iPhone is still chugging along, but I’m glad Apple is finally shaking up the iPhone lineage. I think this thing is so wonderfully Apple: it screams designed, in a fun way. Looking forward to playing with it in-store.
